From your screenshot I can see, that your two first documents are NOT any doc files, but xliff or sdlxliff. In such files not formatting can be added. You can only use formatting from the source segment.

Thanks for your reply. The source documents are doc files when the PM created the package. They don't have this problem and can translate such files as other documents.

You can also translate the documents without any problems. Please post here the full name of one of these two first documents. You can make the part until the first dot illegible, important is what follows after the first dot in the name.

What happens if you take the original source files and create your own project? If the SDLXLFF files you have been provided contain any content that is worth keeping (100% matches) then you could import these into a TM and then pre-translate your own project.

It may be a problem related to the sdxliff files having been created by a different version of Studio, or even the DOC files being not what Trados considers a DOC file.  Some Asian variants of Word for example use DOC but the format is very different to Microsoft Word DOC and the formatting features may well not be available to you.  If you test creating your own project you'll have a better idea of where the problem comes from.
