Mistake when we close Studio

We are having a problem when we want to close Studio, sometimes we have a message saying

"cannot set the active view to a view that is disable or not a available".

I attach a text (with xml tags) that it is describing the mistake

Try clicking on View -> Reset Window Layout.

I often get the same error message.

When I am finished with a project, I remove it from the list of projects in Studio. When the list of projects in Studio is empty, I often get this error message when I try to exit Studio. (Happened in Studio 2014 and continues to happen in Studio 2015.)

I do not always get this error message when the list of projects is empty (sometimes Studio closes nicely), but I don't recall ever getting this error message under any other circumstances.

The only way I have figured out to exit Studio when this error message appears is to use the Windows Task Manager to end the task. A bit drastic, but it works. Otherwise, Studio will refuse to close and will hang around open on my desktop until the next time I need to use it.

Got the same problem in SDL Trados Studio 2015 SR2 - 12.2.5141.6.

Clicking View > Refresh View did not solve the problem; had to kill the SDLTradosStudio process through the Windows Task Manager instead.

I come to the same conclusion as Rudi.

However, when I have to "kill" Studio or its predecessor, TWB, I think it's a good idea to repair the program in the Windows Settings>Programs... tool (I use a French version of Windows 7).

I hope this helps somewhat. The search continues.

After I finish a job, I move the files on my computer from an "in process" folder to a "ready for billing" folder.

I used to remove the project from the list of project in Studio before moving the files, but now I just close Studio and then move the files. When I re-start Studio the project automatically disappears from the list because Studio can no longer find the files ...

As a result, I am no longer irritated by this error message -- and no longer have to kill the Studio process :-)

Good catch Bruce. I think Studio writes to the projects.xml when you close Studio so this is probably why you had these problems before. Doing what you do now is handled gracefully in 2015... not in 2009/2011 and maybe not in 2014... I remember this being a problem in previous versions.

The error just occurred in my Studio 2015 SR2 CU6 after I closed a project via right-click "Remove from list", but "Reset Window Layout" or "Reset View" didn't help. However, that project was the project that I last used, so in the Projects view it was in bold font (= "active") before I removed it. After I had removed the project, I still had 2 other projects in my list, but none of them were/turned active. So I just had to double-click on one of those other projects to open it and thereby make it "active" in the Projects view. Then I could close Studio without problems. I think, it would even have been enough to click the "Set as Active" button in the Ribbon when having selected either of the projects to get the same result and be able to close Studio. I hope this helps.

Hi, I am still experiencing this bug in Studio 2015 SR3 12.3.52.62. Reset window layout does not fix the issue. Is this planned for fixing?

I am using Studio 2017 and experiencing the same problem. I can't believe it is not fixed in 2017. Maybe it is fixed in 2019?

I am using Studio 2019 (latest version) and have now encountered the problem for the first time. I have been a user of Trados for several years and have used a number of earlier versions (since Trados 2009). I am unable to close Studio using the usual methods. The project I was working on is now completed and marked as such in Trados but this has not solved the problem.
