I need the fuzzy repair on, but also I need it to stop translating a word. The customer has changed from US to UK so a lot of segments has changed one word, but the translation should stay the same.

I don't think this is possible. Maybe best to try something like this:

If there are established best practices for this sort of thing, as I'm sure it must have happened before, I'd be interested to hear them too.

Thanks, Paul. It is a big customer tm and very complicated, so the first alternative is scary. I do kind of go with the second one, hoping AL the AI is in there somewhere, adjusting things. I could also just go with it and use filter afterwards and change it - problem is, fuzzy repair does not translate it, it just put in the English word. (old term: grill, new term: barbecue, so it is british barbecue all over).

It's only going to be a case of you eventually having translated so much that the new variants are there.
It is a big customer tm and very complicated, so the first alternative is scary.
If it was me... I think I'd invest the time to tackle this even if you do as an exercise alongside the second one. So when you come across these terms just do the search and replace across the TM as well.

But when I think about it, what should I edit? The sources are changed from "This grill" to "this barbecue" and so my translation is changes from "Denne grillen" to "Denne barbecue").

So when you now say this:
The sources are changed from "This grill" to "this barbecue" and so my translation is changes from "Denne grillen" to "Denne barbecue"
On this basis why would you change "Denne grillen" to "Denne barbecue"? I would just replace "grill" with "barbecue" in the source and leave the target altogether.

I forgot to tell you, that I translate a xlf file which I download from the customers own rather simple cat tool, and then upload it again same place when finished translating it. It's like 7000 words with few no match and many high fuzzies (some because of this grill/barbecue thing). But yes, that would be the way if it was only the tmx.
... but you got me thinking ... if I changed it in the xlf file, all those barbecue would become 100 % matches, but then, not sure what happens if I upload it again or if it is even possible to do so with the source compromised like that.
