Earlier today I attempted to import a file to an existing TM. During this I was requested to update the TM which on the first tray failed. On my second attempt the TM updated successfully.. 

I then attempted to import an SDL XLIFF file to the TM. I received the error message 'The translation data memory file is corrupt'. I closed the error message and attempted to reopen the TM. The same message appeared once again. 

I then closed Trados Studio and reopened it. Immediately the error message 'The translation data memory file is corrupt' was displayed once again. However, when I closed the error message the Trados Studio application also closed. 
This repeated everytime I tried to open the application. 

I then deleted and reinstalled the application along with the TranslationMemoryUpgrade text files that had been created. When I tried to open the TM file, it remained corrupted. 
I took a backup copy of the TM to test if it was that specific file or it was an issue with all TMs. The backup file opened fine and also updated fine when I was prompted. But as soon as I tried to import a file to the TM it again became corrupted. 

I assumed that it was the file I was importing to the TM that was corrupting it, so I attempted to to import a different file. The same thing happened to this file.  

I have downloaded the SDL TM Repair tool and used this on the TM file. However the error message 'The translation data memory file is corrupt' is still displayed. 

I am not sure what else I can do to attempt to rectify this problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
