I do not have a valid support contract to file a ticket, I only have a single Studio 2019 Freelance license.

The information on page www.sdl.com/.../nmt-for-Studio.html indicates that "Studio 2019 users can use up to 500,000 free NMT characters per month, per account", so I thought I was doing something wrong trying to access it :)

You do not need a support contract for licencing and installation issues.

Please feel free to use the link above to log a ticket and the LC team will be able to assist you.

(p.s. A support contract provides unlimited technical support - for instance if you have file issue or problems with a project and provides free upgrades).

I have an update for you :) The Support helped me resolve the problem: SDL NMT is available only when SDL Language Cloud service is active for an user. I think it's worth adding this information to https://www.sdl.com/software-and-services/translation-software/sdl-trados-studio/nmt-for-Studio.html.
