Say I want to avoid Studio splitting a sentence in two if it contains things like "This issue is discussed on p. [page] 10", erroneously detecting the dot as a sentence end.

If the abbreviation is not in your TM, add it and rerun file preparation. In my system, "p." is already in the default list of abbreviations for my TMs (EN-ES), so Studio doesn't segment after "p.".
