This is the important part because you presumably want to update the TM again afterwards.  I'd say your best bet is to do this:

1. Export to TMX

2. Convert TMX to Excel using the Glossary Converter

3. When finished editing convert Excel back to TMX using the Glossary Converter

4. Create a new TM with the updated TMX.

Looks like a typical XY problem...

So your ultimate goal is that someone without Studio can make changes, right?
And your assumption is that TMX can be edited only in Studio?!
That's not correct assumption...

There is a number of free tools for editing TMX, so TMX format as such is not a problem!
