Maybe this will help:

1. Go to path: c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\SDLTradosStudio2017_SR1\modules\
2. Re-install this module by double-clicking on the following file TradosCompatibility2.msi

It remains the same. Your answer was already posted in someone else's post and I had already tried it. It was just a waste of my time. Is there something else that could be done?

Until you post the entire error message, including all relevant data, it's impossible to guess what is wrong and thus what could be done to fix it.

What is that "x" in "component with CLSID x failed due to the following error"?!

If that relates to MultiTerm, reinstalling Studio most probably won't help... but reinstalling MultiTerm possibly can...

As Evzen pointed out you have not helped by not posting the full error stack.  You should be able to click on the small disk symbol in the error message andsave it as an xml file to your desktop and then attach that file to your post.

It would also be useful if you explained what you had already tried.

Why don't you try a full reset... if you have not tried this already?  In the absence of any more information maybe that will do the trick.

Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0

So the path would become this:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0_old

If you can't find this folder then you need to unhide your hidden files/folders:

And for Multiterm... rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart MultiTerm:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm14

Hi Paul,

I had already tried all options I found on SDL forums, such as reinstalling SDLTradosStudio2017_SR1 and full resetting Studio, but not renaming it, what I am trying to do now.

The thing is, though access to termbases continue unavailable, the main error message is not being shown anymore (only the information: Could not connect to - name of the file - termbase, so you cannot use it for term recognition).

I have just renamed Studio, but this multiterm file (MultiTerm14) cannot be fond in my computer.

Do you even have MultiTerm installed?

Paul, as I said, I was using it normally (including Multiterm) till last week and this error appeared after my computer had its memory upgraded

I am no computer expert, and as it is a specific software that's why I am contacting you and not the guy who upgraded my computer since I believe he would not understand what could have gone wrong with this specific matter
