shall locked segments be unlocked before delivery of a package?

I am working on a package and received a manual in which amongst others it was explained how to lock the 101% segments/context match segments.

I have done that, but it seems that the locked segments are not counted as translated in the project overview and I guess that I have to deliver a package with all the files 100% being translated.

Shall I simply unlock those segments once I am done with the translation? Or shall the files be deliveres with them being locked? Manual does not say anything here.

Thank you

  • If these segments were already CM segments then they are surely translated already... do they also have a confirmed translation status?  If not then they will not show up in your stats as translated whether they are locked or not.

When you deliver a return package the most important thing is that you complete the translations you've been asked for and not the stats that show.  So unless you made sure the status was all confirmed before you locked them you will never see 100% completed.

For example, the first two CM matches in this image will not count as they are set to be untranslated and draft:

Screenshot of Trados Studio showing four CM segments with different statuses: first is untranslated, second is draft, third is translated, and fourth is confirmed.

If your client asked you to make sure it was showing as 100% then you need to set the status as translated first, then lock them.  Otherwise, simply make sure you translate everything you need to and send the package back... don't worry about the percentage translated.
