In preparation for file problem, how I can make backup my user files ?

About Trados backup. A MS Word file saved by "Save Target As" could not open before. But I had folder backup of trados user files, so I could recover from it. I think the cause was the trouble of my trados user’s files.
From now on, I will automatically backup the Trados user files regularly (for example, every hour).
I found I can recover by Trados user folder backup, but it is too big to make some versions of  backup.

(1) In case of that kind of file trouble, how are you making backup?

(2) Please let me know how I can make backup in smaller file size as possible.

For example, ( I’m not sure if it is correct.)
"Making backup four files whose extensions are sdlproj, sdlxliff, sdltm, sdltb are enough.
You can make backup even when the project is open.
When you encounttered some trouble, you can recover by overwritting that four files.”
or
"You need export project, traslation memories, termbases manually from Trados software periodically."
or
"There is a backup function in Trados software"
etc.

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards,

  • Hello, Steven Whale,

I really thank you for your advice.

They are all what I wanted to know.

    I'll try the TMBackup.

I could guess what files I shoud backup from SDL TMBackup's sample figures.

They may be 'TMs, TMs, sdltm, TBs, TBs, sdltb'

    In my circumstance,

I think my Termbases and Translation Memories are in

    documents - studio 2019 - Termbases

    documents - studio 2019 - Translation Memories .

But I realized your  Termbases and Translation Memories seems be in  'English to German' Project in your pictures.

If I could do like this, I would be able to back up only one project 'English to German'   which I working on now.
    It would be very rational.

Now I'm backuping whole studio 2019 folder to backup one project which I'm working on because termbase and translation memory are located out of project folder.
So the backups have accumulated very huge.

I could make my backup in minimum amount by locate my termbase and translation memory in the project folder.
    Thank you!

Actually I don't understand the SDL Trados Studio file system well.

Would you tell me where I can find these information about SDL Trados Studio file system?

What I want to know especially is if sdlxliff includes its termbase and translation memory or doesn't.
If so, if I backup sdlxliff it is good enough or not.

    Best Regards,
