This indeed seems to be quite an odd behavior. I would first suggest performing the "softest" Studio reset, that is resetting the window layout.

If that does not help, please try the "harder" reset of Studio. Rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart the program:

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0

Let me know if it worked.
