Perhaps open the sdlxliff file in a text editor and make sure it has not been corrupted?  It's basically xml so you should be able to check the validity if the file quite easily.

Hi Paul! Thank you for responding. I have made sure it is not corrupted, and she sends the same xliff files to other agencies and apparently they have no problem opening it.
I don't know if it may be because she is using the Freelance Pro version whilst I am using Translator Pro...
I ended up asking her for a revision file and then upgrading it to make a xliff file.

Thanks for sending me the file.  If you open it with a text editor you will see this:

Note the question mark at the beginning.  This prevents the file from being read correctly and even causes my editor to read the encoding as Windows 1252.  Remove it and all will be well.

I saw that when I opened it with a text editor
The problem is that even deleting that question mark, Trados won't let me open it as it says there is a non valid character in another line
line 464 position 38446, which is actually the word "economía" and the corresponding character is the "m"

Anyway, do you know why this may occur? Is the file corrupted? Is is because of the different version we are using?

I know deleting the non valid characters may be A solution but there must be something we can do so I don't have to do that extra work.

I finally asked the translators to send the file in a zip file and it worked.

Do you think it may be a matter of the antivirus?
