preview not working

Hi,

I'm working on Trados (2019) for the first time ever, I'm handing in my translation tonight and I can't generate a preview : it doesn't work… It says : you need to have Microsoft (from 2007) installed on your computer. But it is ! I have office 2017 et Word is opened !

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Laura Lasfargeas.

  • Hi ,

Please check the Filetypes in your Trados Studio to make sure you have the correct Word filetype checked.

You need the new one to be able to get support for preview if the version of Word you have is not the full professional version installed with the MSI installer.

So just leave this one checked in your File -> Options:

Trados Studio File Options showing Microsoft Word 2007-2016 filetype checked and older versions unchecked.

Please try with the 2007-2016 version.  Note that this won't affect existing projects as it's too late now.  You need to prepare your projects with this version if you are not already.

Have you also tried with the HTML embedded preview instead?

Also, can you please send me a screenshot with the Word filetype Identifier, that you can see if you go in the Files view on the left navigation pane?

Trados Studio Files view with Word filetype Identifier column highlighted showing 'DocumentML' as the identifier.

    Hope this helps!
