VLOOKUP sections - SDL doesn't take into accounts these parts

Hi all,

I've created a project for one of our clients including 1180 files. Some of them are in the Word format, others in the Excel one (docx and xlsx). In the Excel files there are some content that are not processed by Studio as they're vlookup sections, so it's like they're contain hyperlinks to external files.

Is there a way to tell Studio to include these sections in the reports?

Many thanks in advance for your help

  • Hi Paul,
thanks for your reply. Do you mean that If I translate those external Excel files, the formulae would be automatically updated in the final file? I suppose that both files should be in our server for it to work though, as the formulae directs to the client's server, not ours. Do you think it would work anyway or could just the client see it?

Otherwise, is there maybe another way to extract the data, i.e. the showed text regardless the formulae?

Many thanks in advance for your help

Correct.  That's the way Excel is supposed to work.

If you have access to all the files as thery are linked then it will all work for you too.  If not then it may only work for your client... which is the implrtant bit I think.

Only if you copy and replace the formulae with the text which is also possible.  But this would probably be a foolish thing to do since you would break the structure of your clients file system.  If they don't care then it would be fine, but I don't think you should do this without checking with your client first.  Seems a fair discussion point if you want to deliver what's needed.
