Studio 2019 less stable than previous iterations

Hi,

I have been consistently experiencing strange behavior of Studio 2019 which I did not encounter in previous iterations:

1. Rather frequent activex error messages that crash studio

2. Unprompted preview generation and cancellation (although I specifically cancelled the keyboard shortcut to eliminate accidental activation)

3. Find and replace function suddenly becoming unavailable in a document (including keyboard shortcuts not working)

Have you been experiencing this behavior? What can be done?

Thanks

Shmuel

  • Hello ,

I think there are maybe two separate issues here-

    1) Active X is controlled via your browser - Although you should have IE explorer installed I would suggest you use Chrome or Firefox to do the actual browsing and set as default.
Also please ensure activeX is active in your browser(s)- Your AntiVirus program might be shutting this down by default.

    2) In regards to 'unwanted preview/find and replace greyed out- I very much suspect this is a problem with shortcuts and that these may be clashing/conflicting somewhere.
If you can, please check the shortcuts in -> File Options Shortcuts- for instance the preview option does NOT have any default settings.

  • Very interesting answer.
    1. I'm not sure what part of working on a document involves browsing. I certainly do not initiate it. How do I check the default browser for Studio?
    2. I mentioned that I had the shortcuts for preview disabled. Also, the find replace function is a third separate matter - in one active document it is available and in another just, well, not. When previously it was. what can cause that to happen?
So the bottom line is that these are seemingly unrelated problems that I never had before. However, can they all be the result of a more basic stability issue? I never had so many crashes in Studio....
