Trados Word Add-in

Question

Why did SDL change Trados from Word add-in type to stand-alone type? Please tell me someone that reason.

This changed over a decade ago, but here's just five reasons that are enough for me: 
 
- Word is only one format Trados can handle. There are over 50 more 
- Trados Studio provides a single user experience for any supported filetype 
- A localization process is better using structured content and not Word files 
- Trados Studio provides project management features not supported in Word 
- Now the Terminology and Translation Memory features are properly integrated and extensible
