Unable to launch SDL Trados 2019 after trying to install two apps from the SDL AppStore

Hello,
yesterday I attended the SDL webinar on apps from the SDL AppStore and decided to install two apps: SearchOnWeb and Web Lookup. I restarted the software after installing the SearchOnWeb app and everything seemed fine. After installing the Web Lookup app I tried to restart the software again, but it wouldn't launch. I got this odd message: "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation."
This is what I already did trying to fix it:
1) I deleted the existing copy of SDL Trados Studio (Control panel, Programs, Uninstall a program) and installed it again from the SDL web page - there was no result, the software wouldn't launch.
2) I used the system restore option and restored my system to an earlier point of time (January 23, 2019). My OS is Windows 7, 64 bit. There was no result again.
3) No other software was affected.
Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks,

IK

  • Hello ,

Thank you for attending my webinar.

I have not seen such an issue previously in relation to the apps- normally I think the error relates to .net framework.
First of all i would suggest you remove Studio and any apps completely from your PC

Navigate to each of the following (you will need to be logged on to your machine as administrator) and delete them.

    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\ProjectApi\15.0.0.0\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15\
    c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0\
    c:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15\
    c:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0\
    c:\ProgramData\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio15\
    c:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio15\

Then follow the 'troubleshooting' guides here
    community.sdl.com/.../3392.how-to-part-1-trouble-shoot-unexplained-errors-and-unwanted-behavior-in-studiomultiterm

You must ensure you have Windows 7 SP1 installed.

Then once everything is up to date (you must have latest .netframework 4.7.2 installed) reinstall Studio please.
And then one app at a time.

Should you still have issues, please let me know.
