Source PDF Files Comparison

I received two PDF files, one being an updated version of the other. I know it's a lot to ask, but is there a way to 1) know the word number difference; 2) the percentage of fuzzy matches, repetitions, etc., and c) where changes in the document have been made. I use Studio 2017. Thank you for the help!

  • Hi
Acrobat Pro has a "Compare" function, which might be the best way to show up changes, but of course not CAT-specific stuff like fuzzy matches etc. If you really need to do all that I think you have to convert them to Word files (e.g. with Adobe Pro) and compare the Word files. Once you have the Word files you can do all the word counts etc.

As for fuzzy matches, maybe you can pseude-translate the old version, then use the "update" function in Studio and then see how many segments (and words in segments) are untranslated, in fuzzy match segments etc.? (WIP Report)

Pdfs are not good for anything except printing and displaying. After all, pdf stands for printable document format. Maybe your client can supply you with the files they generated the pdfs from?
