How to prepare files (already translated) to be retranslated or adapted?

Hi to all,

I need to prepare two doc.files for (re)translation. I have a source file (.doc) in german and the corresponding translated file (also .doc) into pt-pt. The pt-pt version must be adapted to pt-br, that means I can use parts of the translated text.

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards

Patricia

  • Hello

Do you only have the source and target files and no TM?

If so, you can create a new TM (Align Documents feature) and align the de-DE and pt-PT files. You will now have a DE to PT TM

Create a new project selecting the required (de-DE/pt-BR) languages and then add the TM (using AnyTM- under the project settings).

Your project settings will then look something like this

Trados Studio Project Settings window showing Language Pairs section with German to Portuguese main TM not selected for updating and an additional German to Brazilian Portuguese TM.

Your main aligned DE-PT TM (not ticked to update) and the additional DE-BR TM.

You should then be able to reuse the original translations - post editing as you go and saving the new translations to the second TM.
