"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" message when I try to start Trados Studio 2017

Question

Hi 
 I started Trados Studio 2017 as usual this morning and all was well. I was then asked to upgrade but when I did that something went wrong and I appeared to lose the program altogether. I carried out a 'system restore' to a point before the upgrade but now when I try to start the program, I just get the above message. What can I do?

 Unfortunately the error 'object reference....' is too generic. 
 Maybe you could post the full error stack - this provided much more information to the cause of the issue

Also try running a REPAIR from Windows control panel ->
