Like a fool I went and accepted the installation of SR1... no good: regexes DO NOT WORK in the editor
I.e.
with "Use" set to "Regular expressions"
... with a pattern like this ("Find what") (\d)\.(\d{3})
and "Replace with" like this $1,$2
this used to find this: 10.000
and replace with: 10,000
but now it replaces with: 1$1.$2
HELP....

As Jerzy pointed out this is a know issue that should be resolved in a future update. In the meantime try making use of the SDLXLIFF Toolkit on the appstore... it not only works, but does offer some advantages for search and replace operations that you don't get in the out of the box S&R dialogue.
