Creating project packages in SDL Trados Studio 2019 Freelance Plus

Hello,

I have been using SDL Trados Studio 2019 Freelance Plus for some time now on two independent machines (laptop and desktop).

SDL Trados Studio 2019 Freelance Plus is basically two licenses in one, but to my surprise it turns out the version does not support exporting and importing packages.

What is the point of offering a double license version of the software if there is no possibility to export/import packages between them?

Am I missing something? Please advise.

  • Hello ,

It is possible to share and send files between the two instances of Studio without the use of project packages - you can take the target file SDLXLIFF, copy it / send it to your PC in the above scenario in email or via an USB stick for example.

Just right-click on the file, select 'Explore containing folder' and there you have the SDLXLIFF you have been translating in Studio. You can take the file, and copy it into the same target language folder on your PC at home, overwriting that previous version. Just please be careful as to which file you copy and overwrite (it should always be the target one). And then you can open the file in Studio and continue from where you've left off in the cafe.

    Hope this answers your question.

    Best wishes,
    Greta
