Using multiple TMs - which TU from which TM will be favored?

Hello,

let's assume I have a "own" Translation Memory which I use for a Project. Furthermore I use multiple "other" TMs that I downloaded from the internet (let's say the IATE TMs). The only TM where I save TU's is my own TM. Therefore these TU's always should be used/prioritized. But in which priority are TU's from different TMs are being used?

I noticed for example the following:

I have the segment with "Motor Leistung" (de-DE) which I translated to "Engine power" (en-US). One of my "foreign" TMs however has an entry for it with the value "Engine efficiency". Even if change to "Engine power" is much more recent, it always uses the "Power efficiency" one when I Pre-Translate.

How can I change this? What would be the best way? Can I prioritize the TMs in the project settings for example? Are there rules existent and what are they?

I appreciate any help, thank you!

  • Hello  ,

Studio prioritises the TM based on the order these are listed in your Project settings

    Example:

Here you will see three TM's- Studio will first search the 1st- 2nd .... until it finds a result

This means that if your client TM is at the top of the list- but your own TM is at the bottom- you will see the result of the client first.

You can however change this sequence by using the blue arrows- so you can prioritize the order how you want to.

Also ensure you have concordance enabled as then you can th3en see how something has been translated before (in the concordance window in the editor).

Let me know if this works for you.
