An error, parsing " (" - Not enough )'s. occurred.

Question

I received a 2017 version sdlxliff file from a PM. After opening it, I tried to confirm segments. But, an error message, parsing " (" - Not enough )'s. occurred. With this error, I couldn't confirm any segment, use any TM, any automation function. 
 How can I resolve this problem?

 Unfortunately this error message does not provide us with very much information and i am unable to confirm which version of SDL Studio you are running at this time. 
 Maybe you could post the full error stack please, as this often provides essential information-
