Problem with content in target document (word)

Question

Hello everybody! 
 I am translating a Word document (.docx) in Trados Studio 2019 and I do not have any problem when opening the original file, but when I save the translation, I cannot open the target file due to problems with the content. However, if I change the format of the target document from .docx to .doc I can open it without problems. Could anyone tell me which function or option I have to change in Trados in order to generate a correct document, so that I do not have to waste time changing the format of the Word document?

 Could you please share a bit more details with us regarding this issue, so that we can see it more clearly? After finishing the translation, you have generated the target translation and cannot open the file in Word? Do you receive an error message in Studio or in Microsoft Word? Also, have you experienced this before or has it only come up when working with this specific DOCX?

Based on what you wrote it seems the problem is related to the Word version you are trying to open the file in. Studio basically 
 recreates this new file type in a way that makes it possible to only open it in a more recent version of Word, this is why you are experiencing issues with opening it in Word 2007 I believe. 
 
The answer would be to work in a more recent version of Word in general, if possible, but as a workaround in these cases please open the file in Word 2016 and re-save it in a previous version so you could open it yourself as well.

Please use the Word 2007-2013 file type, when creating projects in Studio. It's likely, that Word 2007 will be able to open this format, while it indeed cannot open files created with the current office versions. 
But the best solution is to upgrade your Office - this wouldn't harm and will be the most secure option.
