Trados and InDesign files

Question

Hello, I am new to Trados and thinking of buying it as I am dealing with a very large project which requires it. I am not certain about the different files though and would appreciate some help. 
 My client would send me a sdlppx and wants me to return a sdlrpx file, which I take it is the return package that can be created after the translation is done. He then wants to make some corrections and these I should consider and return the files as "idml and sdlxliff files". The latter is Trados, right? This is probably not a problem, but the idml file is a InDesign file. Does Trados have the option of saving as idml or am I missing something? Do I need InDesign too for this?

 I think there are two parts to your question here. 
 If your client sends you a SDLPPX -this will (should) contain everything that you need to complete the project- such as files- termbase-memory- dictionaries etc. 
 Studio does support IDML files... 
 
 However, your client should also ensure they include the necessary IDML plugins (special characters etc.) as you might otherwise encounter problems saving the target file. 
 The return package (SDLRPX) only contains the SDLXLIFF (translated file)- and not the additional resources that you may have been provided with. 
 Normally your client would update their project, with the SDLXLIFF. If your client also wants the IDML, you will need to send this back as an additional file (which you should find in the project folder).
