SDL Studio project errors when storing files on a non-Windows SMB file share

Does anyone have any experience storing SDL Studio project files on a non-Windows SMB file share?

We are currently trialing a new SMB file server using an Amazon AWS S3 bucket, which our users connect to via an SMB share provided by a local (to the users) AWS Storage Gateway.

Some strange errors are occasionally occurring when our Studio users set up projects on this new 'AWS SMB share'.  At the end of the set up process the following errors have been displayed:  Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'Button', No reference to the project is known.  This is occurring in both Studio 2014 and 2017.  If the same files are set up on the user's local Windows 10 desktop, the errors never occur.

At this stage, the error doesn't appear to have any consequences.  After acknowledging the error the project appears to be set up correctly and can be re-opened and worked on without any errors.  However, we're concerned that at some stage the error may have an affect.

    Hi Alex,
    I just have experience on using samba (ver. 2 and 3) instead of windows SMB, either on linux or nas, and never had any issue (using Studio since version 2009).

    Anyway, I would try to create the project locally and then, once is all set-up, moving it to the SMB share by going to project settings and changing the file path of the project.
    When you do so Trados moves nicely the whole project files to the new path (a feature so apparently simple yet so useful, I love it).
    This for sure make sense in order to speed up project calculations, I don't know if it can workaround the issues you're describing.
