No translation provided

Question

Hallo everybody, 
 I am very new to Trados Studio, so excuse me in advance if this question will sound very basic. 
 My issue is that the software does not provide me with any translation... even after I set the languages and the Translation memory (by creating a new one), the software always says 'no match found'. So I am quite desperate at the moment... I read the guide 'Translate a file in 10 easy steps with SDL Studio 2017' and also 'How to translate your very first file in SDL Trados Studio 2014, 2015 or 2017' and I followed the steps described, but still this did not help. 
 Could someone please help me with this?

If your TM is empty, then it won't give you any translations, naturally. You need to have some content in the TM to get translations from the TM... There is no free public TM access built-in...

Can you tell me where you expected the translation to come from? Have you got a Translation Memory that already contains previously translated material? Or are you using a Machine Translation engine perhaps? 
 
Might be basic questions but as you are new I wondered whether you knew that the idea of a tool like this is to support you doing the translations. So if you create a new translation memory it will be empty until you start adding to it by doing the translation yourself.
