Help! I am using Trados 2015 on a Mac (Parallels) and can´t either download add on from SDLAppStore in Windows mode or - when downloading it successfully in Mac mode - get the download implemented in Windows/Trados.

Just started using Trados on my Mac, doing this via "Parallels". My problem is: I can´t download files from SDLAppStore in Windows Mode, I am especially interested in the AddOns featured there. I was able to open SDLAppStore on my Browser on my Mac and downloaded the add on files but couldn´t implement it in Trados (in Windows). Therefore I tried to open the SDLAppStore in a Windows-browser using Parallels (Firefox AND Internet Explorer) but both didn´t work. (Internet Explorer didn´t allow me to log in, Firefox let me but after opening an Add On the entire screen went green, only showing the "Download" button for half a second.)

I am trying to implement DeepL and other add ons. Can anyone help me with this? Also, are there any recommendations of a good (free) tutorial to get started with Trados 2015?

Thank you very much!

  • Hello

After checking the version support- you need either Studio 2017 or 2019.-

DeepL does not support older (2015) versions - Studio 2015 versions are due to be retired from support shortly.

As you have already noted- you cannot download Apps to a MAC directly, as the Apps are for PC only and not compatible with MAC OS

If you have installed Studio via Parallels correctly, then there should be no reason why you cannot download the apps using either FireFox or Chrome (not IE!) and therefore is suggest there is an issue with the settings, or more importantly the folder you are trying to download to (which must be on the Parallels platform).

Please check your parallel settings again and ensure you have the correct download folder.
