"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error message with SDL Trados 2015 when trying to open new SDLXLIFF file

Hi I get this error message when trying to open a new sdlxliff file. I have uninstalled Trados and re-installed but the problem persists. I have deactivated my Norton firewall and antivirus but still the same problem. I clicked on the floppy disk at the bottom and here is what was written:

  • Hello ,

It sounds like the file is maybe corrupt. And i do suspect that this is to do with Norton as I have seen a couple of different Norton related issues over the last week).

First remove this project/file from Studio-
Run a complete Windows 10 update (and ensure all updates are not only downloaded but installed- you may need to run the update a couple of times to complete.
Now run a Studio (and MultiTerm if you are using it) update (Start Studio/MultiTerm- go to HELP/Updates).
Once complete- please add both Studio and MultiTerm to your AntiVirus 'whitelist'-
Now reboot your system and try and recreate the project.

Does this now work for you?
