The following message appears when I try to open a document in SDL Trados Studio 2017: "No reference to the project is known". What does that mean?

Would you be able to provide a screenshot of Studio (including the error message please and explain exactly what you were doing when this appeared. 
Also it will be good if you can tell us what the document type is and whether this is a single file translation or maybe an ongoing project etc. 
The more information that you provide the easier it is too help.
