Studio v2017 (CU 12) hangs on adding a new term (MultiTerm CU 6)

The name of the topic says it all: when trying to add a new term from inside the Editor, the cursor turns into a circle and Trados hangs. The term is added to the termbase, however, Trados is unresponsive and needs to be restarted.

I have tried the following:

- Recreated the termbase from scratch

- Rolled back a Windows security update to Flash

Nothing seems to help. Ideas?

Best regards,

Pavel

  • Hi

I discussed this with the product team this morning and it would be helpful if you could provide us with a project where this happens, and include all the necessary resources for us to be able to reproduce it. If you can do this please send it to pfilkin@sdl.com

    Thank you

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

    Thank you for your message.

I appreciate your offer, but I had a very stressful weekend and I was running out of time, so I had to take drastic measures: reinstall Windows 10 from scratch and install Trados v2019 instead of v2017.

So, this nuclear option took care of the problem and lost me more than a day of work in the process.

    My latest observations were:

    1. MultiTerm with CU 6 would hang when trying to add a new term in the standalone application (not from inside Editor).

    2. Studio v2017 with CU 12 would hang when trying to add a new term from inside Editor (halfway through the drawing and re-drawing of term lists and just before the actual term entry was shown).

    3. I have only been partially able to solve the problem by:

     – Changing the layout of the termbase from inside Editor (works for a couple of terms added);

     – Rolling back both CU 6 for Multiterm and CU 12 for Studio. So, both updates out of the picture, seemed to solve it.

    Best regards,
