Auto save in Trados 2017

Hello, I am using Trados 2017 and I notice that each time I save my file Trados automatically saves an extension (like a backup copy) of the file in the XLIFF format. It also does the same with the memory. Is there any way to disable this? I have already unchecked the autosave function but this still continues.

Many thanks,

Arleene

  • There are many scenarios for translators and in some, automatically creating such files is a headache. I have a client who likes to send low word counts spread across many files. If software I work with automatically creates files in addition to the ones in the folder which I need to send back, I have the dubious joy afterwards of having to manually delete the files Studio created. In my scenario, if Studio crashes without a backup file, no problem, I just open the client file and the TM has the unit. It is much quicker that way, if you have 90 files for a word count of 150, there's not much point in creating projects or rescuing crashes, much easier to just re-open the file.
