"Pre-Scanning Error: The selected IDML file is invalid"

Question

Hi, 
 I'm trying for the first time to translate InDesign files. 
 I tried to create a project with two IDML files, but I get two messages errors saying: 
 "Pre-Scanning Failed to identify the file type. The following messages were generated. 
 Pre-Scanning Error: The selected IDML file is invalid." 
 
 What should I be doing?

Hi Y A , 
 Try ticking this box in File>Options: 
 
 or if you're using a project template, tick that same box in the project settings. 
 If that doesn't fix it there may be something wrong with the files themselves.
