problems producing final file for delivery

Question

Hi, I've just completed a 4 week technical file translation and I can't download the translated file. 
 I get a message from Word saying 
 "We're sorry we can't open this file...because we found a problem with its content. 
 Details XML parsing error 
 Location ...line 2 column .... 
 I really need to deliver this job, I don't get it, I went through it all again, and it's a very long job, but I can't find the way to get around this problem. 
 Hoping someone is out there...

I guess the first thing to check is whether this happens with a new project using this source file, and before you even start translating. So test the file to see whether the problem is the Studio conversion by opening a new file for translation, immediately save target and then try and open it. 
 
If it's a problem like this then it would be useful to know what version of Studio you are using and also which Word filetype you used for the conversion in Studio? 
 
If it's not a problem like that, then create a new project and try handling the word file with a different filetype. In Studio 2017 you have several. This article may help:

Another thing to confirm is the version of Word you are using? If you have an old version, and if you used Studio 2017 and the latest Word filetype, then this could be a problem you are encountering in your version of Word. There may not be a problem with the file if you pass it to someone with a more recent version of Word.

ok - I imagine you clean up the converted PDF as a Word file first anyway? Always better to do that as converted PDF files often leave behind a trail of useless tagging you are better off removing before you translate the files.
