Is it possible to convert a tmx file in various sessions?

Question

Hello, I have a huge tmx memory I want to convert to sdltm, because it is very big and I sometimes need to take my computer to do other jobs, I would like to know if it is possible to divide this job in various sessions, so far the tm is 4gb large (so you know it is a huge tm).

The best course of action is to probably split the TMX using a decent text editor (Notepad++?) , deleting all the TU's you no longer need or require and then create lots of small TMX files to use later to create the SDLTM. 
 
However, as this will still require an awful lot of time (bearing in mind you still have other on going projects), maybe it would be easier to do this on a second PC that you can just leave to run until the process is finished?

As far as I know this is not possible, as each time you restart the process starts at the beginning again, so you would end up in a never ending loop and I suspect this might exasperate the situation by possibly creating duplicates as well. 
 
Because your file is so big- I think this is maybe a case of 'biting the bullet' and letting the process complete unfortunately.

Isn't the better solution exactly what you have already said? Split the TMX and do it in bite sized chunks. Duplicates are highly unlikely... try and create one in a Studio TM, it's not easy!
