I received a project package with files to proofread, but they are read-only.

Hello all, 
 
 I have these 4 files in the package and every time I open them it warns me that it is read-only and any changes will not be saved. Is there a way to deal with this? Thank you!

However, even if you won't be able to open it, it would be your client's fault, not yours. They must have checked what they sent. Would be a lesson for them.

Thank you. I am only reading your message now. I did the proofreading with track changes in all the files, then used Advance Save and made copies of each file before closing everything then when I opened the original files the changes were there!! Despite the files still giving warnings of being read-only. Phew. Thank you for your advice. Have a good weekend.

Hi Ana, Why not just contact your client? You can try to remove the read-only status yourself, but it is your client who wants you to work with his/her files.
