So, basically, after 6 years I'm about to put my good old Athlon II X4 630 to rest it deserves, replacing it with a new custom-built PC. As you may guess, one of the biggest dilemmas is the choice of a right processor and after mulling it over for several weeks, I've been able to narrow the choice down to 2 processors: Intel i7 7700k and AMD Ryzen 7 1700X. The latter is an octa-core processor while the former is a quad-core, but with much higher frequency (4200 Mhz vs 3400). I'm planning to run it on a decent motherboard (Z270 chipset for Intel or X370A for AMD) and 16 GB of RAM.

Now the question is: has anyone had an experience with both these processors or perhaps heard which one would run better with Studio? Would Studio utilize the higher frequency of i7 or perhaps the octacore AMD would be more advantageous here (16 threads instead of 8)?

Any advice more than welcome :)
