Prevent Trados from automatically creating a project

How do I prevent Trados Studio from automatically creating a project in the source directory every time I translate a small file?

Hi Stephen Bennett (StephenBennett), 
 Forgive me if I have misunderstood your post- but I am assuming you want to keep the small files separate from your main translation folder. 
 I think if you use the function ' Drag Files for Translation or Browse your computer ' then this action is by default- 
 However if you use the ' New Project ' option you can decide where you save the files.
