TM upgrade from 2015 to 2017

Hi, what is use of upgrading TM from 2015 to 2017? Can we use TM created in 2015 in the 2017 version? For exapmle I have list of TMs with a warning sybol. Does it mean that I should upgrade them all?

  • Hi ,

    - if you don't upgrade you won't get fragment matching
    - if you don't upgrade you limit fuzzy match repair capability
    - if you do upgrade you can still use the TMs in Studio 2015

The warning symbol is just an indicator that the TM is not enabled for the things I mentioned above. So if you want to see these benefits then upgrade them. Keep a copy if you're worried as they will get a lot larger. Also note that large TMs will take a long time to upgrade. As an example I upgraded an 800k TU Translation Memory last week and it took in excess of 9-hrs to complete. Smaller TMs could be very fast. BUt good to allow yourself time to do this or it may be a little frustrating if you can't get back to work quickly!
