I have received a txt file for translation from which I want to exclude the Description of the strings. Descriptions are starting with /* and closing with */
Is there an easy way to do this in the Trados filetype?

Yes, that's terribly simple. As you create your project, you go into project settings, select the "text" file type and enter ^" as opening pattern and "$ as closing pattern. Delete the closing pattern that is already there. Make it multiline if necessary.
Move the "Text" file type all the way to the top of the list of file types and make sure it's selected (checkmark). Try previewing your file to see whether you are happy.
Studio is really strong on file types, IMHO. You can make almost everything work.
