MT 2026: MultiTerm Exporter is cool, but it does not convert TTB to SDLTB

So how to convert TTB to SDLTB for users of earlier versions of Trados Studio? I see, that the termbases will be converted when creating a project package. But this is only possible in TS Pro, how about users of other versions?

  • Hello,

To convert a TTB (Trados TermBase) file to an SDLTB (MultiTerm TermBase) format for users of earlier versions of Trados Studio, you can follow these steps:

    ### Step 1: Use MultiTerm Convert

    1. **Install MultiTerm Convert**: MultiTerm Convert is a tool designed to help you convert older termbase formats (like TTB) into MultiTerm XML format, which can then be imported into MultiTerm 2007 or later versions.

    2. **Launch MultiTerm Convert**: Open the tool and follow the wizard to select your TTB file as the source.

    3. **Convert to MultiTerm XML**: The tool will guide you through the process of converting the TTB file into MultiTerm XML format.

    ### Step 2: Import into MultiTerm

    1. **Open MultiTerm**: Launch MultiTerm 2007 or a later version.

    2. **Create a New Termbase**: If you don’t already have a termbase, create a new one in SDLTB format.

    3. **Import the XML File**: Use the "Import" function in MultiTerm to import the XML file generated by MultiTerm Convert into your new SDL
