Term Recognition not working

Question

I have been constantly annoyed be term recognition not working consistently. I am an intensive TD user and might have many TDs opened sometime. What I observe is too too often - Term existing in the TD are now recognized - not highlighted and not in the Term Recognition window. But I can search for them and here they are!!!! This was the case with 2017, with 2019 and now with 2021.&hellip; still not fixed. 
 Earlier, the speed of the various screens, adding a TD or refreshing a TD was a major issued and that has been handled once for all - great. 
 Now that issue on TD is the next one inline to be resolved as well once for all, as what the use of a TD and the system can't use them properly?! If you are experiencing the same problem - please post it - so we can get this resolved!!!

 I know how frustrating this can be. I always suggest trying the two steps below. Many times they solve the issue! 
 
 1. Reorganize your termbase. This takes only a few minutes and can make a big difference. Here's how: http://noradiaz.blogspot.com/2020/05/reorganize-your-termbase-to-improve.html . It's best if you close Studio while you do this in Multiterm, and then restart Studio to see if it's made a difference. 
 2. In Studio, disable LookAhead. Go to File - Options - Editor - Automation and uncheck the LookAhead checkbox.

 Have you tried using Trados Live Terminology which should be part of your Studio offer in the cloud? Using that from Studio for the same use case, shouldn't have this problem, as it seems to be MultiTerm/Studio specific around memory and disk managegement on certain systems due to Microsoft technologies we have little control over and really tricky to track down and reproduce. Might be something to explore as there is unlikely to be a quick improvement with MultiTerm on this, so might be more viable to use solutions we do have provided. This is the oldest Trados bug I know of. It has been happening for so many years now it's a sad, sad joke. As I have said elsewhere, many times over the years, until they change to a more modern underlying technology, this problem will not go away. Trados termbases are based on some kind of ancient Microsoft Access or Jet technology. However, since Trados termbases are basically MultiTerm termbases, and changing the underlying tech would thus involve completely changing MultiTerm, I doubt they will ever do it in our lifetime. My recommendation: just use memoQ.

Sadly, the only way to get term recognition to work relaibly is &hellip; to use another CAT tool. For example, in memoQ, term recognition is rock solid and 100% reliable.

We did within this lifetime, it's called Trados Terminology which is available as part of our cloud offering and free for any purchase of Studio. It retains zero underlying technology from MultiTerm. I appreciate it's not file-based, but still should be a good option for 99% of users.
