Thank you for your fast answer! I have tried DeepL. They only have informal singular ("du"). You cannot choose informal plural ("ihr"). I also asked their support and they answered that they might consider intrducing it in the future.

I heard that Trados NMT also gives you a choice – I thought it was available for German. But judging from your answer, it is only available for other languages at the moment, right?

To be perfectly honest I'm not aware of formality being available for any of the languages in Language Weaver (the product name for what you refer to as Trados NMT).  Maybe Arnaud Simoncan confirm this one?

I could not remember where I had seen it, but now I’ve found it. Go to Language Weaver and click the bell symbol; second piece of news:

<New! Linguistic Options are now supported.

NEWS

When supported by a Language Pair, Linguistic Options will allow you to select from a pre-configured list of parameters to tailor the output of the Neural Machine Translation model to your needs.

For example, if supported by a Language Pair, you will be able to set the level of formality and choose between Formal or Informal.

Each Language Pair will support its own set of Linguistic Options and they can be selected at translation runtime. Your administrator will have the ability to enforce a default configuration for each Language Pair.

From the Translation Settings , you will be able to configure the Linguistic Options based on your needs, or revert to the default account configuration, as set by your administrator.>

Indeed... although I don't believe this is anything we can use for your purposes yet for a couple of reasons:

1. only two languages are supported:
   
   
   1. French -> English
      
      
      
   2. English -> Japanese
      
      
      
2. it's only available in the web UI and we would need API support to be able to make these options available to us in the plugin (or in Trados Studio out of the box for that matter)

So I don't think this is a solution for you just yet, but it is a work in progress.
