Training of Machine Translation engines

I purchased Trados 2017 Professional edition. I would like to try machine translation engines for Japanese-English pair. When I train TRADOS Adaptive machine translation using documents from several sources, how would the order of inputting these sources impact translation outputs? For example, if I have documents such as a style guide, grammar-based instructions, in-domain glossaries, and in-domain TM publically available from a government website. Would translation outputs be same regardless of the order of uploading each source to the engine?

  • Hi Paul. I have a few more questions regarding NMT. I have set up translation engines which work in JN-EN pair (e.g. Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, Textra). You suggested to create an adaptive engine for each domain (I thought this means I train an engine using information belonging to one domain, and do not let the impact of the information from the domain impact the output in other domains), but is this also possible for these commercial/academic engines? Is it possible to reset the training after it is done in a certain domain, or to make the training be done locally?
