To make a good use of CADF [Excel Cell Shading Rekon II]

it gives you a very nice collection of Segment Numbers
you can use them at CommunityAdvancedDisplayFilter

sample MS Excel file, two sheets and Shadings

Two MS Excel sheets side by side showing segment numbers with different shadings indicating status.

Trados Studio project view with Advanced Display Filter panel open, showing filtered segment numbers.

this code's Result

MS Excel sheet with segment numbers and corresponding shadings listed in columns.

and you use them (copy and paste) at CADF, harmless harmless and haaaarmless..

Comparison of Trados Studio project views with and without errors, highlighting the error message in the Advanced Display Filter panel.

Concerns

There should be some UpperLimits -not tested with several thousands items
- Excel Cell's,
- CommunityAdvancedDisplayFilter's,
- code's internal container ("Dictionary")
- sorry I do not know them clearly. I have completed my simple test "Perfectly".

it makes a text file at ".sdlproj" folder
name under ".sdlproj_extractShadingSegNumbers.txt"
just delete it, almost useless. just in Case(s)...

Enjoy

  • I had a little play with it and can't get it to work.  Or rather, when I thought it wasn't working and started doing something else an excel spreadsheet suddenly popped up but it didn't contain what I expected.

I think the problem is the test files I used were too large and complex and the approach generates a lot of data.  Take a look if you're interested?

I do like the idea though... might take a look at this and see whether we can use the approach another way.
