Incorrect suggestions for terminology in SDL Passolo

I have a local MultiTerm database configured as Translation Add-In. When I translate in Passolo using the Translation Assistant, some terms are highlighted and translations for these terms are suggested. However, the term search seems to be extremely fuzzy. Fairly often, the suggested translations are wrong.

Example: In a German text, "Ablage" is highlighted as a term. The suggested translation is "attachment", the English translation for "Anlage".

Is this a known problem and are there any plans to do something about it?

I have Passolo 2015.

  • Yes, the terminology lookup is searching fuzzy. Nevertheless I wasn’t able to reproduce the described behavior with Anlage and Ablage in the MultiTerm termbase. Maybe this will change with more entries in the termbase.

    SDL Passolo 2016 has a setup dialog to adapt the minimum match rate for the fuzzy terminology search (Translation Providers – Terminology – Settings).

    In SDL Passolo 2015 (and some earlier versions) users can adapt this value in the registry. Always be careful, when changing registry values, as it could cause unexpected behavior.

    Open the registry editor and go to

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SDL\Passolo 2015\Terminology

    Here you can change the MinMatch key from decimal 80 to decimal 100.

    The MinMatch parameter had a value of 50 (!) on my machine. I raised it to 80, and the results look much better now. Thanks a lot!
