User data migration between GS15 and GS17

Question

Dear GS users, 
 
 Did any of you found out a way to mass export the users from GroupShare15 and import them to GroupShare17? I am looking for a solution, because we have hundreds of users.

Maybe the app I developed a months back might be helpful, it atleast helps with the import: 
 appstore.sdl.com/.../ 
If you don't have the users outside of GS yet in a file, you can either multiselect in Silverlight and CTRL+C/CTRL+V into Excel or pull it out of the SQL table. 
 
Alternatively if you wanted to take over everything, you could: 
Copy the DBs on the SQL level to another server (change some tables including URLs to the new instance), install a new GS 2015 and point it to that new SQL Server, then upgrade the new instance to 2017. 
 
However for the moving of the data and config you need some knowledge which would be too detailed for this forum and error prone, it's something our PS teams do regularly for customers. So it's probably best to connect with our operational technical teams on this one.
