Trados Studio 2021 activation fails after license reset ("No licenses are currently available" / StatusCode 210150)

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone has experienced this issue before.

I have a perpetual Trados Studio 2021 Freelance license. My old computer is no longer functional, so I'm trying to activate Trados on my new Microsoft Surface Laptop (Windows 11).

I've already spent several hours troubleshooting and have tried everything I could think of, including:

  • Resetting the license multiple times through my RWS Account.
  • Reinstalling Trados Studio 2021 SR2.
  • Restarting my computer.
  • Confirming that I'm using the correct activation code.

After resetting the license, my RWS Account correctly shows:

  • Users: 1
  • In Use: 0
  • Available: 1

However, as soon as I attempt to activate Trados, the activation fails with the following message:

"Could not activate this license. No licenses are currently available for the specified activation code."

Immediately afterward, my RWS Account changes back to:

  • Users: 1
  • In Use: 1
  • Available: 0

Earlier during troubleshooting, I also received the following error:

StatusCode: 210150 – The specified lock code is invalid.

It seems as though the licensing server reserves the license during activation, but the activation never completes successfully.

I contacted RWS Support, but because my Support & Maintenance Agreement has expired, they directed me to the Community instead.

Has anyone experienced this behaviour before or found a solution? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
