Can a custom metadata field such as "Content Organization" be added to the general filter?

Currently, the out-of-the-box general filters available in Metrics are Period and Product.

Our organization does not use the Product filter based on the PRODUCTFAMILY concept scheme (ref: Filtering Tridion Docs metrics) because we consider product information to be most relevant at the object/content level rather than the publication level, especially when analyzing content reuse. The OOB Product filter is used in publication logical level and does not support the reporting dimensions we need.

We would like the ability to configure a custom publication metadata field as a general filter in Metrics. Specifically, we would like to use a field such as Content Organization so that users can filter and analyze reports by organizational ownership or business unit.

  • For enterprise companies like ours, it is not unusual that multiple business units, organizations or teams contribute to a single "product". As a result, the metrics are not granular enough to be meaningful. Tracking metrics by team (such as in Miyoung's example) would make the metrics more meaningful to our Tridion Docs users.
